The series revolves around a turf war in the Kanto region of Japan, where fighters known as Tōshi, possess the spirits of heroes from the Three Kingdoms era of ancient China. Hakufu Sonsaku is a central figure, a powerful fighter with a destined path. Shin Ikki Tousen introduces new characters and storylines; for example, Himiko, the reincarnated queen of Yamatai, declares war on all magatama wielders to reclaim her lost kingdom, seeking Japan's three sacred treasures. Additionally, Hakufu's new sister, Chuubou Sonken, joins the fray, adding to the conflicts and challenges. Besides the manga, a 3-episode anime series by Arms aired in May 2022, continuing the franchise with intense battles and rich storytelling.
