Ghost in the Shell: SAC_2045 - Sustainable War

Ghost in the Shell: SAC_2045 Sustainable War is a compilation film of the first season of the anime series Ghost in the Shell: SAC_2045, released in 2021. Set in 2045, the world is engulfed in a "Sustainable War" driven by artificial intelligence, following a global economic collapse. Former Public Security Section 9 members, including Motoko Kusanagi and Batou, work as mercenaries on the war-torn West Coast. The emergence of "Post-Humans" with extraordinary intelligence and physical abilities forces the old Section 9 members to reunite and confront this new threat. The film is a re-edit of the first season's storyline with added footage, aiming to present the narrative in a more concise manner. Co-directed by Kenji Kamiyama and Shinji Aramaki, it continues the cyberpunk style of the Ghost in the Shell series and uses full 3DCG animation to create a unique futuristic feel. While the film experimented with storytelling and visual effects, it has received mixed reviews, with some critics finding that it didn't reach the same level as previous works in the series.
