"One Million Years B.C." is a 1966 British adventure fantasy film directed by Don Chaffey and co-produced by Hammer Film Productions and Seven Arts Productions. It is a remake of the 1940 film of the same name, set in a fictional prehistoric era depicting the coexistence of primitive humans and dinosaurs. The movie was primarily filmed in the Canary Islands, with stop-motion animation of dinosaurs handled by Ray Harryhausen. Raquel Welch's appearance in a fur bikini became an iconic pop culture symbol of the time. Despite being cut for release in the US, the film was a box office success. The film broke ground in visual effects and had an impact on later prehistoric films. Aside from the movie itself, its poster and costume became cultural symbols, and have been referenced in other media, such as "The Shawshank Redemption" and "Chrono Trigger". The film's score was composed by Mario Nascimbene.
