Flower Fruit Mountain is a fictional location in the Chinese fantasy novel *Journey to the West*, situated in Aolai Country of the East Pūrvavideha. According to the novel, it is a mystical mountain where a celestial stone, absorbing the essence of the sun and moon, gives birth to a stone monkey (who later becomes Sun Wukong). The stone monkey leads the other monkeys of Flower Fruit Mountain, discovers the Water Curtain Cave, and becomes their king. Seeking immortality, he leaves the mountain to learn magic and eventually becomes a key figure in *Journey to the West*, embarking on the journey to the West for Buddhist scriptures. Flower Fruit Mountain is the beginning of Sun Wukong's story and an important location in *Journey to the West*. The actual prototype for Flower Fruit Mountain is still debated by scholars, with various places being suggested including: Flower Fruit Mountain in Lianyungang, Jiangsu; Flower Fruit Mountain in Loufan, Shanxi; Baoshan Mountain in Shunchang, Fujian; Mount Tai in Shandong; Flower Fruit Mountain in Yiyang, Luoyang, Henan; Yangxian Mountain in Yixing, Jiangsu; and Siming Mountain in Ningbo, Zhejiang. Each of these locations has certain landscapes or historical ties that are similar to the descriptions in *Journey to the West*, but no conclusive evidence exists to prove which one is the true inspiration. In *Journey to the West*, Flower Fruit Mountain is more than just a geographical location; it is a place of symbolic significance, representing the birthplace and early life experiences of Sun Wukong.
