"Star Detective" is a Chinese sci-fi animated film released in 2021, produced by Suzhou Gongtong Culture Development Co., Ltd., and distributed by Beijing Jidian Film and Television Culture Media Co., Ltd. The film tells the story of an interstellar detective who embarks on an adventure to protect Earth. The protagonist, Xiao Bei, is a somewhat arrogant interstellar detective who accidentally crash-lands on Earth during a battle with the cosmic bandit Black Hole. On Earth, he meets a human girl named Xiao Yi and an interstellar bounty hunter named Aurora. Meanwhile, a group of interstellar fugitives led by Black Hole is planning to open an interstellar tunnel to destroy Earth. With the help of Xiao Yi and Aurora, Xiao Bei gradually overcomes his shortcomings and grows into a true interstellar detective. Ultimately, they engage in a life-and-death battle with Black Hole to protect Earth. The film attracts audiences with its hot-blooded sci-fi style and interstellar adventure setting, showcasing a new attempt by Chinese animation in the sci-fi genre. While some viewers on Douban have commented that the 3D effects might be somewhat lacking, its interstellar adventure plot and character settings are still worth paying attention to.
