"Mr. Miao: The Great Road of Yanluo" is a 2013 animated short film released in mainland China. The story follows a ghost-catching boy who arrives in Fire Cicada Land and discovers that the ecological balance there is being affected by a phantom. As he prepares to eliminate the phantom, A Bao appears and begs him to forgive the phantom, explaining its origin. It turns out that A Bao's friend, Xiao Ren, accidentally offended the Fire Ze God, who represents nature, while trying to save an abandoned baby. As a result, Xiao Ren was assimilated by Fire Ze and turned into a ghost. This puts the ghost-catching boy, Ding Guo, in a dilemma: should he choose to kill the ghost to maintain balance, or should he choose to save the person? The film explores the complex choices between nature and humanity, balance and redemption, and how to make decisions when faced with difficulties. The film's unique art style and profound themes provoke audience reflection, and its plot has been referenced and adapted in the later "Mr. Miao" film.
