Aggretsuko, also known as Aggressive Retsuko, is a Japanese animated comedy streaming television series created by Sanrio and designed by "Yeti". The character first appeared in a series of animated shorts by Fanworks which aired on TBS Television between April 2016 and March 2018. The anime series adaptation was launched worldwide on Netflix on April 20, 2018, followed by four more seasons and a Christmas special. The series concluded on February 16, 2023. The story centers around Retsuko, a 25-year-old single anthropomorphic red panda who works in the accounting department of a Japanese trading firm. Retsuko faces daily frustrations from her superiors and co-workers, and she releases her emotions by singing death metal at a karaoke bar. The series has been praised for its satirical portrayal of Japan's workplace culture and the pressures faced by Millennial women in the workforce. In the fifth and final season, Retsuko gets involved with the Japanese government, running for a seat on the National Diet, while her colleague Haida's life changes after quitting his job.
