"Komi Can't Communicate" (Japanese: 古見さんは、コミュ症です., Hepburn: Komi-san wa, Komyushō desu) is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Tomohito Oda. It has been serialized in Shogakukan's Weekly Shōnen Sunday since May 2016, with 35 tankōbon volumes published as of October 2024. The story revolves around Shoko Komi, a high school girl with extreme social anxiety who struggles to communicate. With the help of her classmate Hitohito Tadano, she embarks on a mission to make 100 friends and improve her communication skills. The series has been adapted into a live-action drama and an anime television series. The first season of the anime aired from October to December 2021, and the second season aired from April to June 2022. The manga won the 67th Shogakukan Manga Award for the shōnen category. The plot focuses on Shoko Komi's initial overwhelming popularity at the elite Itan Private High School due to her beauty and elegance, but it's only Hitohito Tadano who discovers her severe communication disorder. To help her achieve her goal of making friends, Tadano resolves to assist her. The series is praised for its humor and portrayal of social anxiety. In 2022, "Komi Can't Communicate" also won the Crunchyroll Anime Award for Best Comedy.
