"Shangri-La Frontier: Crappy Game Hunter Challenges God-Tier Game" (シャングリラ・フロンティア～クソゲーハンター、神ゲーに挑まんとす～) is a Japanese web novel series by Katarina, adapted into manga and anime. Set in the near future, full-dive VR games are mainstream, but there are also many rushed, glitch-filled "trash games." The protagonist, Rakuro Hizutome, is a veteran player who loves these "trash games," known as "Sunraku" in-game. After clearing the massive trash game "Faeria Chronicle Online," he experiences burnout. On the recommendation of a game store owner, he tries the popular "Shangri-La Frontier," a full-dive VR game with 30 million players. As the character "Sunraku," he uses his skills from playing trash games to explore and progress in this new world. This work is known for its unique gaming theme and captivating story, achieving manga and anime adaptations before any book release. A notable feature is the clever portrayal of fictional trash games and the interactions between the protagonist and various game characters, creating an engaging and challenging game world.
