A Girl & Her Guard Dog

"A Girl & Her Guard Dog" (Japanese: お嬢と番犬くん) is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Hatsuharu. It has been serialized in Kodansha's shōjo manga magazine Bessatsu Friend since December 2018. The story follows Isaku Senagaki, the granddaughter of a yakuza boss, who was raised by her grandfather after her parents' death. Due to her family background, she has been avoided by her schoolmates. Determined to start a fresh high school life, she decides to move away from her hometown, hoping to make friends and find love. However, her overprotective caretaker, 26-year-old Keiya Utou, falsifies his age and enrolls in the same high school as her. Keiya acts as her bodyguard and is solely focused on protecting her, while Isaku harbors unrequited feelings for him. An anime television series adaptation by Project No.9 aired from September to December 2023. Additionally, a live-action film adaptation of the manga is set to premiere in March 2025. The story revolves around Isaku's pursuit of a normal high school life while navigating Keiya's overprotectiveness and the complexities of her own emotions.
