The Dangers in My Heart (2024)

The Dangers in My Heart (Japanese: 僕の心のヤバイやつ, Hepburn: Boku no Kokoro no Yabai Yatsu), often abbreviated as BokuYaba, is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Norio Sakurai. It began serialization in Weekly Shōnen Champion in March 2018, later moving to Champion Cross, and finally to Manga Cross. As of November 2024, it has been compiled into 11 tankōbon volumes. The manga follows Kyotaro Ichikawa, a gloomy middle schooler with dark fantasies of murdering his popular classmates, particularly the class idol, Anna Yamada. However, as he observes Yamada's eccentricities and grows closer to her, he begins to develop feelings for her, eventually leading to a romance. The series blends elements of school life, romance, and comedy. An anime television adaptation produced by Shin-Ei Animation aired its first season from April to June 2023, with a second season from January to March 2024. The anime is licensed by Sentai Filmworks and streamed on Hidive. The manga had over 3 million copies in circulation by September 2023 and over 5.5 million by September 2024. A short spin-off ONA titled "Twi-Yaba" was released on December 10, 2023. The series is acclaimed for its unique characters and subtle psychological portrayal, receiving nominations and recognition in various manga awards.
