Yakuza Fiancé: Raise wa Tanin ga Ii, also known as "An Outsider is Better in the Afterlife," is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Asuka Konishi. It has been serialized in Kodansha's Monthly Afternoon magazine since August 25, 2017. The story revolves around Yoshino Somei, a yakuza princess from Osaka, who is forced into an arranged engagement with Kirishima Miyama, the grandson of a rival yakuza family in Tokyo, as a means of forging a truce. While Kirishima appears charming on the surface, he is actually a violent sadomasochist who craves Yoshino's dominance. Despite her own yakuza background, Yoshino is disturbed by Kirishima's cruelty. Bound by the treaty between the two families, she navigates a complex relationship with Kirishima. The manga has received critical acclaim and was adapted into a 12-episode anime television series by Studio Deen, which aired in Japan from October to December 2024. The series is known for its unique blend of yakuza themes, complex characters, and twisted romance.
