MF Ghost (2024)

MF Ghost is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Shuichi Shigeno, a sequel to Initial D. Set in 202X, self-driving electric cars are the norm, while internal combustion engine racing thrives in an organization called MFG. The protagonist, Kanata Katagiri (aka Kanata Livington), is a Japanese-British driver who graduated from a prestigious UK racing school. He competes in MFG races in a Toyota 86, both to prove his skills and to find his missing father. The series is known for its thrilling racing sequences, nostalgic callbacks, and exploration of future car culture. The manga began serialization in 2017 and has spawned two anime seasons in 2023 and 2024, with a third season announced. The anime, produced by Felix Film, maintains Shigeno’s art style and the Initial D musical atmosphere, utilizing a substantial amount of Eurobeat music.
