Baldur's Gate

Baldur's Gate is a series of role-playing video games set in the Forgotten Realms Dungeons & Dragons campaign setting. The series is divided into two sub-series: the Bhaalspawn Saga and the Dark Alliance. The Bhaalspawn Saga primarily takes place in the Western Heartlands, extending to Amn and Tethyr. This saga is renowned for its pausable real-time combat and is credited with revitalizing the computer role-playing game (CRPG) genre. Originally developed by BioWare for personal computers, it was later remastered in HD by Beamdog and Overhaul Games. The Dark Alliance series was initially developed for consoles and enjoyed commercial success. Several titles, such as Baldur's Gate and Baldur's Gate II, are considered classics of the role-playing genre. The recent Baldur's Gate 3, developed by Larian Studios and released in 2023, is based on the Dungeons & Dragons 5th Edition rules. The series also features various expansion packs and remakes. Its hallmarks include deep storylines, intricate character development, and expansive world exploration.
