Z19 Hermann Künne was a Type 1936 destroyer built for the German Navy in the late 1930s. She was named after Hermann Künne, a German naval gunner who died in World War I. In the early stages of World War II, Z19 was primarily deployed to lay mines off the German coast and to inspect neutral shipping in the Skagerrak for contraband goods. She participated in several minelaying operations off the English coast, contributing to the loss of several British ships. During the Norwegian Campaign in April 1940, Z19 was assigned to attack Narvik and participated in the Naval Battles of Narvik. Z19 was damaged in the first battle but was repaired to fight in the second battle. Due to ammunition exhaustion, she was ultimately scuttled to prevent capture. In the game Azur Lane, Z19 Hermann Künne appears as a playable character, portrayed as a girl who wants to become an adult but retains a childlike innocence. She is energetic, likes playing with the commander, and strives for MVP to gain the commander's affirmation. The game also includes various Valentine's Day lines and gifts for her, showing her fondness and reliance on the commander.
