Matchless

In Azur Lane, "Matchless" is the personification of the Royal Navy's M-class destroyer HMS Matchless (G52). She was designed by Alisa (kuro no sakura) and voiced by Hanamori Yumiri. Her character is portrayed as a young girl with short purple hair, purple eyes, and medium breasts. Her default attire includes a black beret, a sleeveless double-breasted white shirt, a pink ascot, a pink skirt with a black inner layer, white knee-highs, and high-heeled rudder footwear. Her rigging features a funnel-like backpack containing her real-life QF 120 mm twin Mk11 gun mount and 533 mm quad torpedo tubes. Historically, HMS Matchless initially served with the Malta Convoys, including the famous Operation Pedestal. She later participated in the Arctic Convoys, including the Battle of the North Cape, where the Scharnhorst was sunk. Briefly placed in reserve in August 1944, she was reactivated later that month for Mediterranean duties and remained in service for the rest of the war. In 1957, she was sold to Turkey, renamed TCG Kiliç (Kilich) Ali Pasha (D350), and served until 1971.
