Indianapolis

In Azur Lane, Indianapolis and Indiana are anthropomorphic characters based on US Navy ships from World War II. Indianapolis, or USS Indianapolis (CA-35), is a Portland-class heavy cruiser portrayed as a girl with pink twintails, heterochromatic eyes, and a futuristic outfit. She is famously depicted sitting on the Fat Man atomic bomb, referencing her historical role in transporting its components. On the other hand, Indiana, or USS Indiana (BB-58), is a South Dakota-class battleship, depicted as a strong and athletic Eagle Union battleship who vows to crush all enemies and enjoys helping the commander with paperwork, showcasing her sense of duty and strength. Both ships have distinct backstories and character designs in Azur Lane, making them popular among players. They serve not only as combatants in the game, but also as characters with unique personalities and diverse dialogues, exhibiting the appeal of moe culture.
