August von Parseval was a German aeronautical engineer renowned for his contributions to airship design. Born in Germany in 1861, he initially pursued a military career before transitioning to aviation. Parseval collaborated with Hans Bartsch von Sigsfeld to develop tethered observation balloons, which led to his work on dirigible airships. His design philosophy differed from that of Zeppelins, advocating for non-rigid or semi-rigid structures, which became known as Parseval airships. During World War I, his airships were widely used for military reconnaissance and patrol missions. Beyond airships, Parseval also conducted research in other areas of aviation, including the design of seaplanes, successfully testing one in 1910. He later served as a professor at the Technical University of Berlin, continuing to contribute to the field of aeronautical engineering. Furthermore, August von Parseval is also a character in the game "Azur Lane," based on his historical counterpart. This character is a Iron Blood faction aircraft carrier, popular among players for her unique skills and lines.
