the Rune Mage Ryze

Ryze, the Rune Mage, is an ancient and hardened archmage in the League of Legends universe. Burdened with an impossible task, he possesses immense arcane power and boundless constitution, tirelessly hunting for the World Runes—fragments of the raw magic that once shaped the world. Ryze must retrieve these artifacts before they fall into the wrong hands, understanding the horrors they could unleash upon Runeterra. Once a young apprentice to the sorcerer Tyrus of Helia, Ryze embarked on this arduous journey after learning of the runes' immense power. Witnessing the devastation of the Rune Wars and his mentor's eventual corruption by the runes' influence, Ryze took on the responsibility of guarding these dangerous forces, hiding them away to prevent the world from descending into chaos again. He is therefore weathered, lonely, and weary but remains steadfast in his mission.
