Thresh, the Chain Warden, is a major antagonist and playable champion in League of Legends. Formerly a warden of a forgotten order on the Blessed Isles, Thresh is now a nightmarish specter who sadistically delights in the pain and suffering of sentient beings, dead or undead. He played a crucial role in the Ruination of Runeterra by guiding the Ruined King Viego to corrupt the Waters of Life. Thresh is a twisted reaper whose hungry chains ensnare the souls of the living. He always handpicks his targets, gradually eroding their sanity, and once he takes an interest in a soul, he does not relent until he possesses it. He then drags those he captures back to the Shadow Isles for an unimaginably dreadful fate. Little is known about his past, and many details live only in nursery rhymes and campfire tales, which tell of a sadistic jailer who took pleasure in torturing his wards. As a support champion in the game, Thresh excels at controlling the battlefield with his abilities to displace enemies or reposition allies, as well as collecting souls to enhance his power. His abilities include a passive, 'Damnation,' that increases armor and ability power by collecting souls; 'Death Sentence,' which pulls an enemy towards him; 'Dark Passage,' which shields allies and pulls them to him; 'Flay,' which knocks enemies away; and his ultimate ability, 'The Box,' that creates a wall of slowing and damaging spectres around him.
