Nightmare Foxy

Nightmare Foxy is a major antagonist in the Five Nights at Freddy's franchise, first appearing in Five Nights at Freddy's 4. He is a nightmarish version of Foxy, depicted as a tall, crimson, and withered animatronic with tears revealing his endoskeleton. Unlike the original Foxy, Nightmare Foxy lacks an eyepatch. He is characterized by his sharp teeth and claws, and his frightening appearance. In-game, Nightmare Foxy hides in the closet and slowly reveals himself, attempting to attack the player. Players must shut the closet door to prevent his attack. Nightmare Foxy also appears in the 'Hallway Crawl' minigame in Five Nights at Freddy's VR: Help Wanted, and in the story 'Dittophobia.' In 'Help Wanted', he appears in the hallway when lightning flashes and will attack players if they move when he is visible. In 'Dittophobia', he and other nightmares are revealed to be plastic mannequins used in experiments involving the study of children's fears, with their terrifying appearance caused by hallucinogenic gas. Nightmare Foxy is also theorized to represent the protagonist's older brother, who also torments him.
