Khaled Al-Asad is a fictional character in the Call of Duty franchise, first appearing in Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare. He is a military commander and warlord in the Middle East, and one of the main antagonists of the game. Al-Asad is known for his brutal rule and thirst for power. He staged a coup, overthrowing the country's president, Yasir Al-Fulani, and personally executing him, which was used to incite revolution. Al-Asad allied with Russian ultranationalist Imran Zakhaev, who aided in his coup to divert US attention from the Russian civil war. In the game, Al-Asad is depicted as a cunning and charismatic individual who uses his personality to rally his supporters. Despite claiming his revolution was for revenge and against corruption, he secretly collaborated with Zakhaev for his own gain. He was eventually captured in Azerbaijan by the British SAS and executed by Captain Price, ending his life of crime. Despite his death, his organization, the OpFor, remains active in the Middle East, and his influence persists.
