Azalea is a unique plant block in Minecraft, added in the 1.17 Caves & Cliffs update. It functions both as a decorative bush and can be grown into an azalea tree using bone meal. Azaleas come in two variants: the regular azalea and the flowering azalea. Both generate naturally on moss blocks in the lush caves biome and are surface indicators of these underground caves. Azaleas and flowering azaleas can be broken instantly with any tool or by hand, and using shears does not provide additional benefits. They can be placed on various blocks like grass, dirt, and coarse dirt. Azaleas are compostable and can be used as furnace fuel. Additionally, flowering azaleas can be used by bees for pollination like other flowers. Unlike saplings, azaleas do not automatically grow into trees; bone meal must be used to grow them into azalea trees. The azalea tree has roots consisting of rooted dirt and hanging roots that extend into lush caves. There are multiple ways to obtain azaleas, including finding them in the creative inventory, gathering them in survival mode from lush caves, or using commands. As a distinctive block in Minecraft, azalea adds depth and intrigue to gameplay.
