  • English: Barrel
In Minecraft, a barrel is a useful block primarily used as a storage container, similar to a chest, but unlike chests, barrels cannot connect to each other. An important characteristic of barrels is that they can be opened even if a block is directly above them, making them very practical in compact spaces. Additionally, barrels serve as job site blocks for fisherman villagers; an unemployed villager near a barrel may transform into a fisherman. Barrels can be crafted at a crafting table using 6 planks and 2 wooden slabs; the planks and slabs can be made of any wood type. Barrels can also naturally generate in fisher cottages in villages, up to 3 barrels per cottage. Beyond storage and serving as a fisherman's job site, barrels can be used as fuel in furnaces, smelting 1.5 items per block. They can also be placed under note blocks to produce bass sounds. It's worth noting that piglins become hostile towards players who open or break barrels. Overall, the barrel is a versatile and practical block in Minecraft.
