  • English: Barrier
In Minecraft, a Barrier is an invisible block primarily used to create solid boundaries. It cannot be broken in survival mode and is not directly obtainable through the creative inventory. Players can only acquire it through specific commands, such as the `/give` command. Barrier blocks are mainly used to prevent players, mobs, and other entities from entering certain areas. They have characteristics similar to bedrock, being very strong, indestructible by explosions, and transparent, allowing light to pass through. The barrier appears as a red box with a slash in the player's inventory, but it is completely invisible when placed. In Creative mode, when a player holds a barrier block, all placed barriers will show a red particle effect to indicate their position. Barriers can be waterlogged and can have dependent blocks like torches and redstone placed on them. They do not block beacon light, and do not visually connect with blocks like fences, iron bars, and glass panes. Barriers also do not allow mobs to spawn on them but can suffocate mobs. While they are indestructible in survival, barriers have been obtained through specific mechanisms, such as structure file errors or exploits in early snapshots.
