Basalt
Basalt is a rock block found in Minecraft, primarily generated in the Nether. Basalt generates naturally as basalt pillars and terrain in the soul sand valley and basalt deltas biomes. In Java Edition, it also generates in blobs within basalt deltas, attempting to replace netherrack 75 times per chunk. Basalt can also be found in bastion remnants. Smooth basalt is a decorative rock found in amethyst geodes and ancient cities. Polished basalt is a polished version of basalt found in ancient cities and bastion remnants. Basalt is mainly used as a building material and can also be placed under note blocks to produce a bass drum sound. Players can mine basalt with a pickaxe and process it into smooth or polished basalt via smelting or stonecutting. Additionally, basalt can be generated by lava flowing onto soul soil adjacent to blue ice.
