Birch leaves are a natural block in Minecraft, primarily found on birch trees. Players cannot craft birch leaves using a crafting table or furnace; instead, they must be found and gathered in the game. In Creative mode, birch leaves can be directly accessed in the inventory. In Survival mode, players need to use shears to trim leaves from birch trees. To do this, players simply click on the birch leaf block with shears to cut them down. Birch leaves can be used for composting, with a 30% chance of increasing the compost level in a composter by 1. On average, a stack of birch leaves yields 2.74 bonemeal. Birch leaves also have redstone properties; their block state changes when wood/log blocks are nearby, and these changes can be detected by observers, which emits a redstone signal. Moreover, in snowy biomes, birch leaves appear frosted when it starts snowing. Birch leaves can be waterlogged without spreading the water. When graphics are set to fast mode, the transparent sections of leaves become black. Leaves are destroyed when pushed by pistons and don't stick to sticky pistons or slime blocks. Destroying leaves might drop saplings and sticks, with a very low chance to drop apples. With a tool enchanted with Silk Touch, you can obtain leaves themselves.
