A block of gold is a precious metal block in Minecraft, equivalent to nine gold ingots. It is primarily used for decoration, storage, and as a power source for beacons. Blocks of gold naturally generate in Ocean Monuments, where eight are encased in dark prismarine, and in varying quantities in Bastion Remnants and near Ruined Portals. Players can mine them using an iron pickaxe or better. Gold blocks can be used to create the base of a beacon pyramid, along with iron, diamond, emerald, and netherite blocks to increase the beacon's effects. Additionally, gold blocks can be placed under note blocks to produce bell sounds. Piglins will be distracted or enraged when a player drops or breaks a block of gold nearby. A block of gold can be crafted from nine gold ingots in a crafting table or broken down back into nine gold ingots for convenient storage. Besides decoration and powering beacons, gold blocks are a crucial resource and building material.
