A block of netherite is a precious metal block in Minecraft, crafted from nine netherite ingots. Unlike most items, it is resistant to fire and lava, but it can still be destroyed by cactus. Blocks of netherite can only be mined with a diamond or netherite pickaxe, otherwise, it drops nothing. It can be used to store netherite ingots compactly. A single block of netherite is enough to upgrade a full set of diamond armor and five diamond weapons or tools. Blocks of netherite have a blast resistance of 1,200, the same as obsidian, crying obsidian, ancient debris, respawn anchor, and enchanting tables. It can also be moved by pistons, which makes it useful in redstone builds. Furthermore, blocks of netherite have a hardness of 50, making it the hardest block that can be pushed by a piston. Blocks of netherite can also be used to power a beacon. The beacon can be powered by a 3x3 square of netherite blocks underneath it, and can also optionally include 5x5, 7x7 and 9x9 layers in the shape of a pyramid to increase the effects from the beacon. Blocks of netherite can be destroyed by wither's blue skulls and on contact with a wither. It can be obtained using a command in creative mode.
