In Minecraft, cake is a block that can be placed and eaten. A cake with a candle is a light-producing variation created by placing a candle on an uneaten cake. Once placed, the cake cannot be recollected even with Silk Touch. Candle cakes always drop their respective candle when broken. Cakes cannot be eaten directly from the hotbar; they must first be placed on a solid block. Each cake has seven slices, and eating a slice restores a small amount of hunger and saturation. Cakes can also act as a redstone component, emitting signals of varying strength depending on the number of slices remaining. Eating a cake makes no sound in Java Edition. Furthermore, cakes can be eaten by pandas and composted to raise the compost level. Pushing a cake with a piston will break it without dropping anything. You can place any color of candle, including a green candle, on an uneaten cake to create a candle cake. Flint and steel or fire charges can light the candle, and clicking the candle extinguishes it. Crafting cake requires eggs, three buckets of milk, two sugar, and three wheat. Cakes can also be traded with villagers.
