In Minecraft, a cake is an edible block that players can place on a solid surface to consume. When a candle is used on an uneaten cake, it creates a cake with a candle, a variation that produces light. Once placed, the cake cannot be collected, even with Silk Touch. When a cake with a candle is broken, the candle will drop. Expert-level farmer villagers can sell cakes for one emerald. Unlike most foods, cake cannot be eaten directly from the hotbar; it must be placed on a block first. Each cake has seven slices, and eating one slice consumes one. A whole cake restores 14 hunger points and 2.8 saturation. When connected to a comparator, a full cake emits a redstone signal of strength 14, decreasing by 2 for each slice consumed. A cake with a candle can be created by placing a candle on an uneaten cake, with the candle's color affecting the candle on the cake. Candles can be lit with flint and steel, emitting light, and the candle can be extinguished by clicking on it (not the cake). Red candle cakes can be found in trial chambers or created by placing a red candle on a cake. Cake is crafted with an egg, three buckets of milk, two sugar, and three wheat, while candles are made using honeycombs and string.
