In Minecraft, the Cobblestone Slab is a half-height building block, a variant of cobblestone. It can be crafted by placing three cobblestones in a row on a crafting table, yielding six cobblestone slabs. Cobblestone slabs are used as a building material and possess properties similar to regular cobblestone, but with half the height of a full block. This makes them useful for decoration and space-saving purposes, such as making stairs, roofs, or flooring. Cobblestone slabs can be mined with a pickaxe; without a pickaxe, they drop nothing. In creative mode, cobblestone slabs can be found in the inventory. Besides crafting, they also naturally generate in plains villages, pillager outposts, and woodland mansions. They can be used under note blocks to create bass drum sounds. Furthermore, the way cobblestone slabs are placed determines whether they block light or allow items to pass through. Single cobblestone slabs (top or bottom) are transparent and diffuse sky light in Bedrock Edition, while double slabs are opaque. These characteristics make cobblestone slabs a versatile building material in Minecraft.
