The copper bulb is a new light-emitting block introduced in Minecraft 1.21. It is made of copper and oxidizes over time, changing its appearance and light output. The copper bulb can be toggled on and off with redstone pulses and does not require continuous power to emit light. Its light level varies depending on its oxidation stage, from 15 (unoxidized) to 4 (fully oxidized). Players can use an axe to scrape off oxidation or use honeycomb to wax it, preventing further oxidation. Beyond a light source, the copper bulb is a useful redstone component, acting as a T flip-flop, and its state can be read by a comparator. It can be found naturally generated in trial chambers, or crafted using copper blocks, blaze rods, and redstone dust. This block provides new decoration and redstone circuit possibilities, making it a highlight of the Minecraft 1.21 update.
