The dead bubble coral fan is a non-solid decorative block in Minecraft, representing the dehydrated state of a live bubble coral fan. In the game, it cannot be crafted; it can only be obtained by mining with a Silk Touch enchanted tool, or by letting a live bubble coral fan die naturally when placed out of water. Dead bubble coral fans retain the same shape and texture as their living counterparts but are grey in color and cannot be revived. They can be placed on top of or on any of the four sides of a block, but not on the bottom. Dead bubble coral fans are primarily used for decoration, offering players a way to simulate underwater environments on land-based constructions. In Java Edition, dead bubble coral fans do not generate naturally, while in Bedrock Edition they can be found naturally within coral reefs. When a live coral fan is placed out of water, it transforms into a dead coral fan after a few seconds in Java Edition, and instantly in Bedrock Edition. Dead bubble coral fans are stackable and can be broken instantly with any tool but can only be acquired with a tool enchanted with Silk Touch.
