In Minecraft, a dead horn coral fan is a decorative block resulting from a living horn coral fan when it's removed from water. It is a non-solid block and cannot be obtained directly like regular blocks. To acquire a dead horn coral fan, players need to mine it using a tool enchanted with Silk Touch. Dead horn coral fans do not generate naturally in the Java Edition, but they can be found in coral reef structures in the Bedrock Edition. Also, players can obtain them by placing live horn coral fans out of water, which will immediately (in Bedrock Edition) or after a few seconds (in Java Edition) transform into their dead counterparts. Dead horn coral fans are used for various purposes, such as building or decoration. Once a coral fan becomes dead, it cannot be turned back into a live one. There are five types of dead coral fans, including variants of tube, brain, bubble, fire, and horn corals. They can be placed on the sides and top of blocks, but not the bottom. Furthermore, dead coral fans can be pushed by pistons as long as they are still 'supported' in their new position, not floating.
