Deepslate Coal Ore

Deepslate coal ore is a rare mineral block in Minecraft, a variant of coal ore that generates at the top of the deepslate layer, specifically at and below Y=0. Deepslate coal ore cannot be crafted using a crafting table or furnace; it must be mined. In survival mode, you need a pickaxe enchanted with Silk Touch to directly obtain deepslate coal ore, otherwise it will drop coal. Its rarity stems from its specific generation conditions, forming only when deepslate blocks are adjacent to coal ore near Y=0. Compared to regular coal ore, deepslate coal ore is much rarer, even more so than deepslate emerald ore. It is primarily used to obtain coal and can be placed under note blocks to produce a 'bass drum' sound. Introduced in the Minecraft 1.17 Caves & Cliffs update, deepslate coal ore presents a challenge for players exploring the deep underground. Its scarcity makes a Silk Touch pickaxe a valuable tool.
