  • Chinese: 闪长岩
  • English: Diorite
Diorite is an igneous rock block found in Minecraft, typically generating in large pockets underground. It can be mined with any pickaxe, and if mined without one, it drops nothing. Diorite is primarily used for decoration and building, having the same blast resistance as stone, thus serving as a substitute. Besides regular diorite, there's polished diorite, a refined version, also used for decoration. The generation of diorite varies across dimensions. In Bedrock Edition, it attempts to generate twice per chunk in all biomes, forming veins of varying sizes. In Java Edition, it also generates in veins and can replace various other blocks. Apart from natural generation, diorite can be found in weaponsmith, tannery, and mason houses in snowy tundra villages. Polished diorite can be found in warm underwater ruins. Both diorite and polished diorite can be placed under note blocks to produce a "bass drum" sound. Diorite can also be used to craft diorite stairs and diorite slabs, both variants used for decoration. In the game, diorite is used for building and decoration, and can be acquired through trading with villagers.
