In Minecraft, a dirt path is a decorative block primarily found in villages as pathways for villagers. It cannot be crafted using a crafting table or furnace, but instead requires a shovel to dig in Survival mode from dirt or grass blocks. Dirt paths are slightly shorter than regular blocks, measuring 15/16 of a block high, making them unsuitable for placing items that require a full block like torches or buttons. However, villagers and iron golems prioritize dirt paths when pathfinding. Dirt paths can also be obtained via the Creative inventory, commands, or pick block function. In Java Edition, breaking a dirt path drops a dirt block; in Bedrock Edition, a dirt path block can be obtained directly with a Silk Touch tool. It's also noteworthy that placing a solid block on top of a dirt path will immediately convert it back into dirt. Additionally, using a hoe on a dirt path will convert it into farmland, which provides an intermediate step for transforming mycelium and podzol into farmland which cannot be tilled directly.
