Grass paths are decorative blocks in Minecraft, primarily found in villages as pathways for villagers. They can be created by right-clicking grass blocks, dirt, coarse dirt, mycelium, podzol, or rooted dirt with any type of shovel, which will decrease the shovel's durability by one. Grass paths are 1/16th of a block shorter than normal blocks, preventing the placement of full-block items like torches and buttons. While mainly used for decoration, grass paths also prevent hostile mobs from spawning, and villagers and iron golems prioritize them when pathfinding. In Java Edition, breaking a grass path yields dirt, while in Bedrock Edition, it can be obtained directly using a Silk Touch tool. Grass paths generate naturally in villages, replacing gravel paths. They can also be obtained from the Creative inventory, using commands, or pick block. Tilling a grass path with a hoe converts it to farmland. Grass paths have a similar color to grass blocks in desert or savanna biomes.
