Hopper
A hopper is a utility block in Minecraft, primarily used for item collection, transfer, and automation. It can collect item entities directly above it, as well as transfer items into and out of other containers. Hoppers can be locked with redstone power to stop item movement. Players can obtain a hopper by mining it with a pickaxe or crafting it with five iron ingots and a chest. Hoppers serve multiple roles: they act as a container with five item slots, a crafting ingredient for minecarts with hoppers, and a redstone component for complex automation. Hoppers can be placed facing down or sideways, with their output tube indicating the direction items will be moved. Hoppers can form pipes to transport items over distances. Redstone comparators can read a hopper's item level, which triggers redstone circuits. Hoppers are essential for automated processes in Minecraft, widely used in farms, sorting systems, and smelting setups.
