Iron Ore

Iron ore is a common mineral block in Minecraft, primarily found underground. It is an important source of iron ingots, which are used to craft tools, weapons, and armor. There are two forms of iron ore: regular iron ore and deepslate iron ore, the latter being more common in deepslate layers. Mining iron ore with a stone pickaxe or higher will drop raw iron. If mined with a pickaxe enchanted with Silk Touch, the iron ore block itself will be dropped. Using a Fortune enchanted pickaxe will increase the amount of raw iron dropped. Iron ore typically generates in veins, sometimes appearing alongside blocks of raw iron and tuff. In addition to being a material for smelting into iron ingots, iron ore can be placed under note blocks to produce "bass drum" sounds.
