Large Amethyst Bud

A Large Amethyst Bud is an item added to Minecraft in the Caves & Cliffs Update: Part I. It cannot be crafted using a crafting table or furnace; instead, it must be found and gathered in the game. Large Amethyst Buds are found growing within amethyst geodes, specifically on budding amethyst blocks. An amethyst geode consists of three layers: an outer layer of tuff, a middle layer of calcite, and an inner layer of amethyst blocks and budding amethyst. The Large Amethyst Bud is one of four growth stages of amethyst, the others being small, medium, and amethyst cluster. To harvest a large amethyst bud, you need to use a tool enchanted with Silk Touch, such as a pickaxe, shovel, or axe. Large amethyst buds produce beautiful sounds when you walk on them, break them, place them, or hit them with a projectile. They can be found in the Creative inventory and, in Survival mode, must be found growing in a geode and mined with a Silk Touch enchanted tool. Once mined, the Large Amethyst Bud will drop, and must be picked up to be added to your inventory. A Large Amethyst Bud is a very useful item in the game, and should be kept in your inventory for later use.
