Large Fern

Large Ferns are a decorative plant in Minecraft, taller than regular ferns, standing two blocks high. These plants naturally generate in taiga, snowy taiga, and old-growth taiga biomes. Players cannot craft large ferns using a crafting table or furnace; they are primarily obtained in a few ways: in Creative mode, they can be found in the Creative Inventory; in Survival mode, bone meal can be applied to regular ferns to grow them into large ferns; breaking a large fern with shears will drop two regular ferns; and large ferns have a 12.5% chance of dropping wheat seeds when broken. Large ferns are primarily used for decoration, and they can also be placed in a composter to increase the compost level. The color of large ferns varies slightly between different biomes. In snapshot versions of Java Edition 1.14, large fern items were briefly obtainable with shears and used for duplication, but this was later fixed. Now, large ferns can sometimes be found in chests within taiga villages.
