Lava
Lava is a light-emitting fluid in Minecraft that causes fire damage, primarily found in the lower reaches of the Overworld and the Nether. Players can collect lava using a bucket from a lava source block or a full cauldron, creating a lava bucket. In Java Edition, lava does not have a direct item form, but in Bedrock Edition, it can be obtained through editing or add-ons. Lava can also be renewed through a dripstone mechanism, where lava slowly drips into a cauldron when a lava source is above a pointed dripstone with a cauldron below. During world generation, lava replaces air blocks in caves and canyons between Y=-55 and Y=-63. Lava also appears as lava flows and small lava lakes. In the Nether, lava is more common than water in the Overworld, forming lava seas and randomly appearing as single blocks in netherrack. Lava can be used as fuel, with one bucket smelting 100 items. Contact with lava causes fire and damage to players and mobs, as well as reducing movement speed. Lava interacts with water to produce stone, cobblestone, or obsidian. Lava emits a light level of 15 and can be used for illumination. Lava can trigger tripwires and destroys items dropped into it, except for netherite items.
