Lily Pad
The lily pad is a short, flat, non-solid block in Minecraft that naturally generates on water in swamps and wheat farm rooms in woodland mansions. It can be instantly mined with any tool and breaks upon collision with boats. Lily pads can be obtained through fishing, where they are considered “treasure” in Bedrock Edition and “junk” in Java Edition. Wandering traders also sell lily pads in sets of two. Lily pads are primarily used to create pathways across water, negating the need for bridges or full blocks. Mobs cannot spawn on lily pads, and they break and drop as an item when water flows over them. They can be placed on top of water, ice, or frosted ice, occupying the block above the water rather than being a part of the water block itself. The direction of a lily pad is fixed and unaffected by the player’s placement direction. In Bedrock Edition, lily pads can be placed directly inside players. Lily pads have a 65% chance of raising the compost level when placed in a composter. In early versions of the game, lily pads could not be walked on and were only used for decoration.
