In Minecraft, the Oak Hanging Sign is a decorative block introduced in the 1.20 "Trails & Tales" update. Unlike regular signs, hanging signs can be suspended from the underside of blocks via chains, or supported on the sides of blocks with a wooden beam. They allow players to write text on them, which can be used to label storage, provide information, or mark important areas. Crafting an Oak Hanging Sign requires 6 stripped oak logs and 2 chains, yielding 6 signs per craft. Similar to regular signs, the text on hanging signs can be colored using dyes, illuminated with glow ink sacs, and locked against changes using honeycomb. Hanging signs can be placed on various blocks, including semi-solid and non-solid blocks, and can be used to control the flow of water and lava. They can also serve as fuel in furnaces, smelting 4 items per sign. Despite their different appearance, the text editing and formatting of hanging signs is nearly identical to that of regular signs, allowing four lines of text, though with a reduced character limit per line due to width constraints. In creative mode, the "pick block" function can copy placed hanging signs, including their text and decorations. Hanging signs also have unique features, such as producing a bass sound when placed under note blocks.
