Observer
The observer is a versatile redstone component in Minecraft that detects state changes in the block directly in front of it and emits a redstone signal. The observer has a "face" used to monitor the block in front of it. When this block undergoes any state change (such as being placed, broken, plant growth, or piston movement), the observer emits a short redstone pulse from its back. This feature makes the observer a key part of various redstone circuits, such as automated farms, traps, and secret passages. There are minor differences in the block state changes that observers can detect between Java Edition and Bedrock Edition. An observer requires a pickaxe to be mined; otherwise, it disappears. Players can craft an observer using 6 cobblestone, 2 redstone dust, and 1 Nether quartz in a crafting table. Understanding the use of observers is fundamental to understanding and building complex redstone mechanisms.
