Ominous Banner

In Minecraft, the Ominous Banner is a special type of banner that cannot be crafted and is exclusively obtained by defeating raid captains or finding them at pillager outposts. Unlike regular banners, it features a unique 8-layer pattern, making it impossible to copy or modify on a loom. While primarily used for decoration, it can be equipped on the player's head or chestplate using commands and used to decorate shields, although the pattern will be reduced to six layers. This banner does not affect the player nor trigger the 'Bad Omen' status. Like regular banners, it can be used as a map marker, as fuel in furnaces, or placed under note blocks to produce bass sounds. In Java Edition, an Ominous Banner with displayed patterns can be obtained via commands, but banners generated at pillager outposts will revert to normal versions after updates. Additionally, in Bedrock Edition, it is known as the Illager Banner and is a separate item type entirely.
