The respawn anchor is a block in Minecraft that allows players to set their spawn point in the Nether. Introduced in the 1.16 'Nether Update', it provides a safe way for players to return to the Nether after dying. Players craft the respawn anchor using crying obsidian and glowstone. Once placed in the Nether and charged with glowstone, players can set their respawn point by right-clicking it. Each death consumes one charge, up to a maximum of four. Attempting to use a charged respawn anchor in the Overworld or the End will cause it to explode, similar to using a bed in the Nether or the End. The respawn anchor also functions as a redstone component, emitting different signals based on charge levels, and hoglins will flee from respawn anchors.
