Rooted dirt is a unique decorative block in Minecraft that is typically found beneath azalea trees, particularly in lush cave biomes. This type of dirt is characterized by the presence of roots on its surface and, unlike regular dirt, it does not get covered by grass or mycelium. Players can obtain rooted dirt by digging beneath azalea trees, or by purchasing it from wandering traders. The primary use of rooted dirt is decorative, but it can also grow hanging roots when bone meal is applied. Additionally, rooted dirt can be transformed into a dirt path by using a shovel, or into regular dirt with a hoe, which will also drop a hanging root. Water bottles can turn it into mud blocks. Rooted dirt does not naturally spread grass or mycelium like normal dirt, which makes it a unique asset in construction, for example in creating a natural look with roots.
